About Dr. Wu
Eddie S. Wu, DO, FAOAO is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in total hip and knee replacements with Premier Orthopaedic Associates.
Dr. Wu, a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon in adult reconstruction, specializes in caring for patients with hip and knee disorders. His expertise is in both primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty. Dr. Wu is one of the few surgeons in Southern New Jersey, and the first surgeon in the Inspira Health Network, who performs total joint replacement with MAKO® robotic-assisted technology. Robotic-assisted total joint arthroplasty allows Dr. Wu to formulate a personalized surgical plan based upon on patient-specific 3-D model generated from a preoperative CAT scan. A robotic arm is then used during surgery to help execute the individualized plan. He performs total hip arthroplasty through the muscle-sparing anterior approach to the hip which can potentially accelerate recovery time after surgery. He has a special interest in utilizing minimally invasive surgical techniques to treat his patients, including muscle-sparing approaches to the hip and knee, partial knee replacements, and arthroscopic joint preserving procedures of the knee. In addition, Dr. Wu cares for patients with a variety of other orthopaedic ailments including joint pain, fractures, and sprains.
After graduating summa cum laude with a Master's degree in Physical Therapy from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Dr. Wu went on to obtain his medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Osteopathic Medicine (UMDNJ-SOM). He completed both his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at UMDNJ-SOM. Afterwards, Dr. Wu completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedic-Center for Joint Preservation and Replacement at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore in Baltimore, Maryland. In addition to authoring/co-authoring several journal articles and medical book chapters in the orthopaedic literature. Dr. Wu is an active member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) and serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Arthroplasty.
Dr. Wu believes in tailoring treatment to a patient's individual needs. With a background in physical therapy, Dr. Wu strives to restore and maximize function through the most current evidence-based, non-surgical and surgical techniques. Dr. Wu brings the most current advancements in the field of adult joint reconstruction and his dedication to the people of Southern New Jersey.
