DistinctionsDr. Disabella served for many years as Team Physician for the Athletic Department at the University of Delaware. He and his medical support team covered twenty three NCAA Sports Teams, the U of D Cheerleaders, Mascots and a number of both Olympic and Professional Level Figure Skaters. For over a decade he has acted as the Personal Physician for multiple Olympic and Professional level Athletes. He has also had the distinction of serving as President of the AOASM for the year 2012-13 and is nationally recognized and considered by his peers, to be an expert in the Use of Supplements and Performance Enhancing Substances in Athletes, he lectures locally and nationally on this and many other topics. And, he has published multiple medical articles in addition to contributing numerous chapters to various medical texts. Dr. Disabella has been interviewed on several television programs including ESPN’S, “Outside the Lines” and is the former host of “The Sports Health Highlight”, a weekly radio talk show available worldwide.
Dr. Vincent N. Disabella, DO, FAOASM is a Fellowship Trained and Board Certified Sports Medicine Physician and a Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician, with Premier Orthopaedic Associates and is affiliated with Inspira Health System.
Dr. Disabella’s practice covers all areas of sports medicine including; Concussion and Post-Concussion Management, Ultra Sound Guided Injections, Platelet-Rich Plasma or PRP Therapy, Treatment and Management of Exercise Induced Asthma, Evaluation and Monitoring of Diabetic Athletes among many other Non-Surgical Treatment or Program Options for orthopedic injuries and related issues. Also, Dr. Disabella is uniquely qualified to assist in prevention of injury, by utilizing Body Motion Evaluation Techniques, as one piece of a program designed for active people of any age and ability, to succeed in their pursuit of improved health. His extensive experience with patients and athletes, both in the field, and in practical hands on treatment, coupled with his belief in teaching the highest standards of health and wellness and his choice to live what he teaches, combine to make him especially well qualified to evaluate and guide the treatment of any orthopedic concerns or injuries. His ongoing pursuit of educational growth and development ensures his continued awareness and adoption of, the best and most effective cutting edge therapies, providing the Premier patient the ability to benefit from the most appropriate surgical or nonsurgical solution, appropriate to their specific need.
Dr. Disabella graduated from Albright College and went on to attain his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). After graduating, he remained at PCOM to complete his Internship and Residency Training, upon completion, he began and fulfilled Fellowship Requirements in Sports Medicine/Primary Care at Union Hospital, in Barnabas the Health System.
Dr. Disabella was the Assistant Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship at Crozer Keystone Health System from 1996-1998. Dr. Disabella is the former Team Physician for the University of Delaware. During his tenure at U of D from 1998-2006, he was responsible for the healthcare management of twenty three NCAA varsity teams, U of D cheerleaders, the dance team, mascots and the national and international figure skaters training at the U of D Ice Skating Center. Dr. Disabella was also Co-Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Reading, PA from 2004-2009.
Dr. Disabella enjoys a national reputation as a leader in the field and has extensively lectured on Sports Medicine related topics, at state, regional and national venues and has also presented at various professional meetings. He has published a variety of medical articles and contributed chapters for publication in numerous medical texts. He has been interviewed on multiple television programs and has hosted a weekly radio talk show.
Dr. Disabella has recently joined Inspira Health Network as the Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship. In this role, along with his duties at Premier, Dr. Disabella is leading the way for the future of Sports Medicine Physicians. He has been tasked with establishing a fellowship program aimed at increasing the visibility and understanding of the discipline, along with developing young doctors, into world class leaders who will strive to achieve and maintain only the highest of standards. He also continues his involvement in the highest levels of various professional sports, by continuing to manage the healthcare and performance needs of a few select athletes.
